Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAHMS) is a specialist service for children and adolescents with serious emotional, behavioural or mental health difficulties which is provided by the HSE.
CAMHS is a multi disciplinary team comprising psychiatrist, social worker, speech & language therapist, occupational therapist.
CAMHS can assist with a wide range of mental health problems experienced by children and teenagers such as anxiety, eating disorders, depression, psychosis etc.
The service caters for young people up to 16 years of age although some services are extended to 18 years for young people who are in full time education.
Referrals: Referrals necessary from health professional. Referrals accepted from GP’s, PHN’s. Social Workers, Speech & Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists.
