The County Wexford Traveller Men’s Health Programme aims to improve the health and well-being of the men who participate (see course contents below). The programme is managed by FDYS Ltd. and is funded through the Traveller Health Unit of the HSE. There are currently 3 groups running in Bunclody, Taghmon and Adamstown. Particular emphasis is given to providing information and support in relation to : mental health, diet and nutrition, cardiovascular health, health screening and substance misuse.

Course Contents;

Raising awareness of current health and well-being and to support the men in implementing changes in their lifestyles;

Promoting positive thinking and practice as a means of improving health;

Linking the participants to relevant service providers;

Promoting appropriate physical activity;

Developing healthy cooking skills;

Creatively exploring hobbies, interests and pastimes;

Reviewing the changes implemented by the men.
